Milton Keynes is a new inland pre-clearance operation where HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Border Force carry out targeted checks on freight to identify mis-declared goods entering the UK by sea.
Carrying out these checks inland avoids congestion at ports and helps tackle tax avoidance, evasion and fraud.
ACG was given the unique opportunity of visiting the new facility to provide training to raise officers’ awareness of counterfeit products.
More than 120 officers from HMRC and Border Force visited an exhibition of ACG brand members during the day. Brands including New Era, adidas, Hewlett Packard, Unilever, and BMW exhibited genuine and counterfeit products and discussed with the officers the issues of counterfeiting and how best to identify fake goods.
More training at this site and other ports and airports around the UK are scheduled in the ACG calendar for members.
ACG represents more than 3,000 brands affected by this influx of fakes into the UK and delivers an international network of information, advice and contacts on all aspects of IP protection. Working with Government and law enforcement agencies since 1980, ACG is focused on providing an effective and sustained response to counterfeiting.
Membership with the ACG is the best way to work with government and enforcement bodies to protect your brand. Our Roadshows and training days help you reach out to police, trading standards and border force officers and tell them about your genuine products.
