By the end of this series of seven Border Force Officer training events, 49 ACG member brands will have spoken directly to Border Force Officers. At each event, seven different ACG brand members have provided updates and shared information to help officers detain counterfeit goods entering the country.

SHOPPERS are being warned about fake clothes being sold via Facebook posts after a huge surge counterfeit items which are bought online. Last year, 31 per cent of shoppers unintentionally bought fake products online - up from 24 per cent in 2018, according to research by the ACG.

If you recently came across an enticing pair of Valentino shoes on Amazon and thought the price was too good to be true, you may have been right. Last Thursday, luxury fashion brand Valentino and retail giant Amazon together sued a third-party online retailer for selling counterfeit shoes.

Amazon has announced the creation of a new Counterfeit Crimes Unit which will be responsible for finding and pursuing those attempting to sell fake goods on the site.

Criminals are taking advantage of the pandemic by turning their attention to online crime. As lockdown continues, across the UK, there has been a drop in street crime of 21%. However, online crime, driven by predatory transnational gangs, is on the rise.

Buying counterfeit Christmas gifts has much wider implications than many imagine. Eighty-three per cent of all fakes come from South East Asia and are the result of workers, including children, held in some of the world’s worst sweatshop factories.
