A car accessory firm run by men from Formby and Maghull “ripped off†customers and motor companies to the tune of about £200,000, a court has heard. Euro Car Mats Ltd sold bogus car mats and accessories online to unsuspecting customers all over the UK using the trademarks of reputable car manufacturers.

The ACG raised awareness of counterfeits yesterday by holding another successful Border Force Training Day at Heathrow airport. Big brands including Hunter Boots, Hasbro, NorthFace, Hewlett Packard and UGG exhibited counterfeit and genuine products and invited enforcement officers to visit the exhibits to discuss the issues facing brand protection and understand how to identify a fake product.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Trading Standards say unlicensed street traders are operating illegally in the city and have so far seized 500 bottles of counterfeit designer fragrance in eight weeks.
