The Anti-Counterfeiting (ACG) Director General Phil Lewis attended the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Illicit Trade Meeting yesterday. Counterfeited goods make up the largest value of illicit trade, which robs the local economy of jobs and economic growth with funds going to organised crime groups and putting consumers at risk when buying potentially unsafe and ineffective products.

On Friday 4 December, the ACG hosted an online fireside chat with Susan Wilson, the first U.S. Intellectual Property (IP) attaché to the European Union (EU) and to the UK, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. Susan's responsibilities have included monitoring IP-related developments and contributing to IP-related dialogues throughout the region.

Another series of online training for UK Border Force Officers, organised by the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG) has just been completed. This time well over 200 officers were updated on how to identify branded products.

This week, the ACG has trained more than 250 Trading Standards Officers with a focus on online shopping. Twelve ACG brand members presented to officers on how counterfeit products can be identified. These brands included Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, no!no!, Dermawand, SanDisk, Tommy Hilfiger and Popsockets.
