16.09.16 – More than 100 enforcement officers and ACG members attended an Intellectual Property (IP) Roadshow in Wetherby on Thursday 15 September.
Delegates, from Trading Standards, Border Force and the Police listened to Graham Mogg, ACG Intelligence Co-ordinator discuss recent successes for ACG in tackling physical and online counterfeiters, by supporting and being involved in a range of enforcement campaigns and working with the National Markets Group.
Gavin Terry, IP Lead Officer, Chartered Trading Standards Institute updated everyone on IP law and EU trade mark regulations and Huw Watkins, Head of Intelligence Hub spoke about current initiatives at the IP Office.
During the breaks more than 50 ACG brand owners were on-hand to display genuine and counterfeit products and advised enforcement officers on how to spot a fake.
After lunch, Chief Inspector Mark Leonard of Police Scotland spoke of the complex and rapidly evolving threat of serious and organised crime.
In addition, five ACG members presented on the specific counterfeit challenges their brands face on a daily basis.
Alison Statham, Director of Operations for ACG commented “IP Roadshows are free of charge to enforcement officers and I would encourage them to attend a regional event. It is a great opportunity to keep up-to-date on intellectual property and network with colleagues and other local IP contacts.”
The next regional ACG IP Roadshow will be held on 24 November at Twickenham Stoop Stadium, Twickenham. To find out more go to Events
