20 October 2018
In response to the wave of counterfeits appearing on ecommerce platforms and the issues faced by rights holders in taking down illicit websites, the ACG decided to invite Amazon Marketplace and Facebook to roundtable meetings on Friday 19 October, to meet ACG brand members.
The first roundtable of the day was with Amazon Marketplace. Amazon spoke about customer and brand protection, explained in detail Amazon’s brand registry and how to report a violation (RaV tool). They also outlined how the new Transparency tool works and the plans to launch in 2019.
The second roundtable meeting was with Facebook, who presented new functionality and features within their anti-counterfeiting toolset. Brand members reviewed Facebook’s new Commerce and Ads IP tool which will provide more powerful capabilities to report infringing rights.
These behind-the-doors presentations were hugely informative and the perfect opportunity for rights holders to feedback to Amazon and Facebook, speak directly about the issues faced and receive advise on how best to implement a working solution. More collaboration will follow.
ACG represents more than 3,000 brands affected by this influx of fakes into the UK and delivers an international network of information, advice and contacts on all aspects of IP protection. Working with Government and law enforcement agencies since 1980, ACG is focused on providing an effective and sustained response to counterfeiting.
