Yesterday members of the ACG were able to meet with the brand protection and legal team from Tokopedia for a roundtable discussion about what they are doing to stop fake goods being sold on their platform. Tokopedia is an Indonesian technology company which specialises in e-commerce. Founded in 2009 and after 12 years Tokopedia has over 100 million active users and over 11 million platform sellers.
The round table allowed for Tokopedia to open up to members about what they are currently doing to protect brand owners and their IP rights. ACG members got an insight look into their continuous activities to strengthen their IP protection mechanisms, the one stop portal for notice and takedowns and how they plan to improve communications with sellers regarding IP infringement and counterfeiting.
ACG members were given the opportunity to raise questions or challenges through ACG, who then shared them with the Tokopedia team ahead of the roundtable. The roundtable touched on how to add more pressure on the repeat offenders, increasing awareness of take down processes and proactively monitoring and takedown procedures all being done through enhanced collaborations with authorities like the ACG and other stakeholders. The Tokopedia team were able to provide a comprehensive and thorough response to members questions through their presentation and allowed for a Q&A session at the end.
Tokopedia empathised how they are continuously educating their sellers on anti-counterfeiting efforts through their IP Protection microsite and members also got to hear about their developments in introducing a brand alliance programme, to further work hand in hand to fight against counterfeits.
This event is the nineth in a series of Protecting Brands Online Roundtables offered free of charge to our members. The next one will be held with Bukalapak on 4 October 2021.
