Officers from Border Force, Folkestone were joined by brand members yesterday at a training day organised by Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG).
A number of brands including The Premier League, adidas, EPSON, UGG and Procter and Gamble encouraged enforcement officers to chat about identifying fake goods and handle the genuine and counterfeits exhibited on their stalls.
“We are always delighted to support Border Force in their work, identifying and seizing counterfeit goods. Counterfeiting costs the UK economy £30 Billion a year and has a clear link to drug trafficking, money laundering, firearms and corruption” commented Phil Lewis, ACG Director General.
ACG will be hosting another enforcement training event at Heathrow later in the year. To find out see events at ACG
ACG represents more than 3,000 brands affected by this influx of fakes into the UK and delivers an international network of information, advice and contacts on all aspects of IP protection. Working with Government and law enforcement agencies since 1980, ACG is focused on providing an effective and sustained response to counterfeiting.
Membership with the ACG is the best way to work with government and enforcement bodies to protect your brand. Our Roadshows and training days help you reach out to police, trading standards and border force officers and tell them about your genuine products.
