ACG visited the Council Offices in Macclesfield on Wednesday 12 September to present this years’ Highly Commended Department Award for Excellence in Anti-Counterfeiting to the Cheshire East Council Trading Standards Investigation team.
The team were celebrating exceptional achievements in enforcement work that had led to a number of significant intellectual property investigations last year. This included the seizure of illicit tobacco with a retail value of nearly £61,000 and more than 3,000 counterfeit products.
With the support of their Digital Forensic Officer they also evidenced the sale of 10,500 suspected counterfeit goods on eBay. Many of which could potentially have put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
"This is the 24th year that ACG has been presenting awards which are recognised throughout the intellectual property community. An ACG award represents outstanding enforcement work across the UK and the rest of the world.
"We are delighted to make this award today to Cheshire East Council Trading Standards Investigation team and recognise the vital part they have played in tackling the trade in counterfeit goods. Congratulations to the team" commented ACG.
