ACG visited Dover Border Force yesterday to deliver a training session, along with ten of its brand members.
The brands exhibited and demonstrated genuine and counterfeit goods to more than 45 Border Force officers who visited the training event and walked around the exhibition area, talking to the brand experts.
The brands, who included; ghd, Louis Vuitton, adidas and Jack Daniels, were delighted with the response and interest shown by the enforcement officers.
"This has been a great event and well worth coming to Dover to speak to the Border Force officers face-to-face. We’ve made some really useful contacts. It has been a fantastic opportunity to explain in more detail the best way to identify counterfeit products" commented a Border Force training day attendee.
More than 35 million counterfeited and pirated goods were seized in the European Union in 2013. The trade in these goods has been valued at around £250 billion globally and is rising year-on-year.
ACG represents more than 3,000 brands affected by this influx of fakes into the UK and delivers an international network of information, advice and contacts on all aspects of IP protection. Working with Government and law enforcement agencies since 1980, ACG is focused on providing an effective and sustained response to counterfeiting.
Membership with the ACG is the best way to work with government and enforcement bodies to protect your brand. Our Roadshows and training days help you reach out to police, trading standards and border force officers and tell them about your genuine products.
