Heathrow Border Force training to spot the fake

03 November 2016

Heathrow Border Force TrainingACG provided another successful training event at Heathrow airport today. Twelve ACG brand members including; EPSON, Michael Kors, Burberry, Unilever and Superdry used the opportunity to exhibit genuine and counterfeit products and demonstrate to Border Force officers the issues the brands face when tackling intellectual property crime.

"More than 50 officers from Border Force, Trading Standards and the Intellectual Property Office visited the exhibition today and everyone felt they got a lot out of the event. It is an extremely valuable exercise and a unique opportunity for officers to speak face-to-face with brand protection professionals in an effort to better understand the latest ways of identifying counterfeits, that they can go on to seize" commented a Border Force training day attendee.

The trade in counterfeit and pirated goods has increased year-on-year. In 2013, it was valued at £250 billion globally and more than 35 million goods were seized in the European Union alone.
