The ACG, along with 14 brand members, met the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) yesterday for a lively discussion and debate about IP law enforcement.
PIPCU presented an update on operational activities focusing on enforcement and disruption of the online sale and the physical sale of counterfeit products.
"This has been another interesting and informative meeting and a really positive benefit for members of ACG. It is a fantastic opportunity to hear the latest updates directly from the team at PIPCU and helps our brand protection experts in following the process for referrals and the taking down of illegal websites" commented a PIPCU/ACG meeting attendee.
In the three month period, August to October 2016 an incredible 1,251 domains were suspended by PIPCU as part of Operation Ashiko; with an estimated criminal property value of over £331 million. To date, more than 15,000 counterfeit websites have been terminated since October 2013.
PIPCU is targeting a further 2,800 suspensions in the lead up to Christmas.
