Posting on Facebook, the north Manchester division of Greater Manchester Police said: “Today, with our partners, officers took part in an operation on Bury New Road targeting those selling counterfeit goods. “Seven illegal shops were found with one million pounds worth of counterfeit items seized. “They are not bargains they are cheap, sub-standard and dangerous. Firefighters are warning consumers to shop carefully on Black Friday (November 24) and avoid fake electrical products as they present a serious fire risk. Research carried out by the charity Electrical Safety First revealed that an estimated nine million UK consumers have purchased a fake electrical product as a Christmas gift in the past.
