Brand & transport leaders sign historic declaration to stop maritime shipping of counterfeit goods

30.11.16- Leaders from global shipping firms, freight forwarders, brand owners - whose products are counterfeited - and industry organisations representing both industries signed a joint " Declaration of Intent to Prevent the Maritime Transport of Counterfeit Goods " today in Brussels. It marks the first time the global shipping industry and brand owners have made a public commitment to work together to stop the transport of counterfeit goods on shipping vessels.

Number of counterfeit goods seized by EU authorities continued to rise in 2015

23.09.16 - Customs authorities across the EU seized an estimated five million more counterfeit items in 2015 than the previous year, according to new figures released today by the European Commission. This means that the number of intercepted goods grew by 15% compared to 2014. More than 40 million products suspected of violating an intellectual property right were detained at the EU's external borders, with a value of nearly €650 million.

Kyocera cracks down on counterfeit kit

07.07.16 - The firm seized €10m (£8.5m) worth of counterfeit goods in the whole of last year. But this year, since April alone, the firm has got its hands on fake kit worth €5m – suggesting it is becoming more prevalent in the European channel.
