ACG presented the Dave Hankinson Memorial Award for Individual Excellence in Anti-Counterfeiting Enforcement, to Lynn Foster of Highland Council Trading Standards.

Last week, Phil Lewis ACG Director General and John Noble Director of the British Brands Group met the special adviser for the (yet to be announced) Minister for IP. The meeting was held primarily to discuss the key IP policy areas for brands and to explore challenges and potential areas for progress.

On Tuesday 6 August Phil Lewis, ACG Director General travelled to Motherwell in Scotland to present Anne Marie Spalding with an ACG Award for excellence in anti-counterfeiting enforcement.

ACG very much welcomes the Government’s pledge to recruit 20,000 new police officers in England and Wales. The rise in violent crime has been hugely distressing but we must not forget that crime is changing and Governments across the world are strongly convinced that illicit trade, and particularly counterfeiting, are now major crimes that increasingly threaten our economies, businesses and consumers.

On 15 July Phil Lewis, ACG Director General and Graham Mogg, ACG Intelligence Coordinator met with HMRC, Border Force and Dave Lowe, UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to discuss intelligence management and future anti-counterfeiting border strategies.
